HA Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments used to rejuvenate and enhance the appearance of your skin. They are injectable products that contain a natural substance called hyaluronic acid, which is found in the body and plays a crucial role in maintaining skin hydration and volume.

HA dermal fillers are composed of a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule that naturally occurs in the body. This molecule attracts and retains moisture, contributing to skin hydration and volume. These fillers are primarily used for aesthetic purposes. They can be injected into various facial areas to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and facial folds, as well as to add volume to the lips, cheeks, jawline, temples and even to reshape the nose!

The treatment involves a simple and minimally invasive procedure. Dr. Capek or one of our licensed Aesthetic Providers, injects the filler into the targeted areas using a fine needle or cannula. The process is generally quick and relatively painless, with minimal downtime. Patients typically notice immediate results after the treatment, although there may be some initial swelling, bruising or redness that subsides within a few days. The results are temporary, lasting anywhere from six months to two years, depending on the type and brand of filler used.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are considered safe when administered by trained, qualified healthcare professionals. Allergic reactions are rare because hyaluronic acid closely resembles the body’s natural substances. However, there can be some side effects, such as bruising, swelling, or lumps at the injection site, which are usually temporary. This is the most commonly used filler type in aesthetic treatments since it is well tolerated, has a relatively low risk profile, and can be reversed with an injectable enzyme.

Dermal fillers can be customized to meet individual aesthetic goals. Different formulations of hyaluronic acid are available to address specific concerns, whether it’s plumping the lips, softening wrinkles, or restoring volume to the cheeks. Since the results are temporary, patients may choose to undergo periodic touch-up treatments to maintain their desired look.

The Benefits of HA Dermal Fillers

Dermal filler treatments are minimally invasive and typically require little to no downtime. You can often resume your daily activities right after the procedure. They also  have a proven safety record and are FDA-approved. With a skilled and experienced injector, the risk of complications is minimal.

Fillers are celebrated for their ability to provide subtle, yet remarkable enhancements. They integrate seamlessly into your skin and soft tissues, ensuring you look refreshed and rejuvenated without appearing over-treated. Since you can expect to see instant improvements in your appearance after a filler treatment, they are a convenient choice for those seeking immediate gratification. While the duration of results can vary depending on the specific filler used and individual factors, many patients enjoy the benefits for six months to a year or more.

Nonsurgical Injection Rhinoplasty – a unique filler procedure

Injection rhinoplasty, sometimes called ‘liquid’ rhinoplasty or the non-surgical nose job, uses dermal fillers to alter the appearance of the nose – all without surgery. By strategically injecting an HA filler into specific areas of the nose, Dr. Capek can reduce the appearance of a hump, fill in or straighten a collapsed or dented nasal bridge, increase the projection of the tip, camouflage a crooked nose and more. The liquid rhinoplasty requires advanced injection skills and knowledge of anatomy and 3-dimensional aesthetics. In the hands of a skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Capek the results can be incredible!

It can be a great alternative for patients who want to avoid a surgical rhinoplasty or who want to explore the possibility of surgical changes in the future. During a consultation, Dr. Capek will help you determine the best course of treatment for your unique needs and cosmetic goals. She may recommend combining it with other filler treatments to further enhance the facial profile.

The non-surgical rhinoplasty requires little to no downtime or restrictions. You may experience some minor redness and swelling, but it typically subsides within a few hours. It produces instant results that last for a year or more.

RHA Collection

The RHA Collection is a remarkable range of dermal fillers designed to mimic the natural movements and appearance of your skin. “RHA” stands for resilient hyaluronic acid, and these fillers are specifically engineered to adapt to the dynamic demands of your face, ensuring authentic and radiant results. RHA fillers are created using a gentle manufacturing process that preserves the natural structure of hyaluronic acid, making them highly biocompatible for a soft, harmonious appearance. Unlike traditional fillers, RHA fillers are uniquely formulated to move with your facial expressions, maintaining a natural look at rest and in motion.

The RHA Collection offers a range of products, each tailored to address different areas of concern, from fine lines to deeper wrinkles and facial contours.

  • RHA Redensity: Ideal for fine lines and dynamic wrinkles around the mouth, providing a natural and subtle enhancement. This filler is very smooth, yet light, which is the perfect combination for filling upper lip ‘smoker’s lines’, which commonly appear with aging as well.
  • RHA 2: Perfect for treating moderate wrinkles such as nasolabial folds without bulk or stiffness. May be used off-label for lip volume enhancement as well.
  • RHA 3: Designed for deeper lines and wrinkles such as the marionette area or deeper nasolabial folds, effectively rejuvenating your appearance.
  • RHA 4: Addresses volume loss and facial contours in the cheeks, chin and jawline; can be injected more superficially without feeling lumpy.

RHA fillers can last up to 15 months or more in the majority of patients.

The Dermal Filler Procedure

Dermal filler injections are administered by Dr. Capek or one of our aesthetic providers. The procedure is minimally invasive and involves injecting the filler directly into the targeted areas using a fine needle or cannula. Most fillers contain a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the procedure, and topical anesthetics, a vibration device and ice may also help make the procedure more comfortable. HA fillers are usually packaged in 1 cc syringes, meaning it takes 5 syringes of filler to fill a teaspoon. While one syringe may be enough to create fuller lips, to achieve meaningful improvements in the aging face, numerous syringes of a variety of fillers may be needed. During your consultation, one of our providers will give you an estimate of how much filler is needed to achieve for your ideal look. For full face rejuvenation, this may involve a staged process over two or more visits to optimize your appearance and keep you looking naturally beautiful!

HA Dermal Filler Results

Results from filler injections are usually visible immediately, although there may be some swelling and bruising initially. Over the next 1-2 weeks, the filler integrates with the skin and provides a natural look and feel. The longevity of results can vary depending on factors such as the type of filler used, the treatment area, and an individual’s metabolism, but they typically last from six months to two years. Dermal Filler Risks

Fillers are considered safe when administered by trained medical professionals. Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, the risk of allergic reactions is minimal. However, as with any medical procedure, there can be side effects and risks, including swelling, bruising, infection, and lumps or irregularities at the injection site. Rare but serious complications such as vascular occlusion can occur and may result in damage to surrounding tissues or vision. These risks can be minimized by choosing a qualified injector and following post-treatment care instructions.
