The Dermal Filler Procedure
Dermal filler injections are administered by Dr. Capek or one of our aesthetic providers. The procedure is minimally invasive and involves injecting the filler directly into the targeted areas using a fine needle or cannula. Most fillers contain a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the procedure, and topical anesthetics, a vibration device and ice may also help make the procedure more comfortable. HA fillers are usually packaged in 1 cc syringes, meaning it takes 5 syringes of filler to fill a teaspoon. While one syringe may be enough to create fuller lips, to achieve meaningful improvements in the aging face, numerous syringes of a variety of fillers may be needed. During your consultation, one of our providers will give you an estimate of how much filler is needed to achieve for your ideal look. For full face rejuvenation, this may involve a staged process over two or more visits to optimize your appearance and keep you looking naturally beautiful!
HA Dermal Filler Results
Results from filler injections are usually visible immediately, although there may be some swelling and bruising initially. Over the next 1-2 weeks, the filler integrates with the skin and provides a natural look and feel. The longevity of results can vary depending on factors such as the type of filler used, the treatment area, and an individual’s metabolism, but they typically last from six months to two years. Dermal Filler Risks
Fillers are considered safe when administered by trained medical professionals. Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, the risk of allergic reactions is minimal. However, as with any medical procedure, there can be side effects and risks, including swelling, bruising, infection, and lumps or irregularities at the injection site. Rare but serious complications such as vascular occlusion can occur and may result in damage to surrounding tissues or vision. These risks can be minimized by choosing a qualified injector and following post-treatment care instructions.
