LaserLift with Precision Tx™
Precision Tx™ LaserLift is a knifeless, minimally invasive procedure for contouring and tightening the jawline and neck. Dr. Capek was the first surgeon in the Capital District region to offer Precision Tx™ and has been performing the LaserLift for over 10 years. Patients throughout the Capital District areas of Albany, Schenectady, Troy and Saratoga trust New York Plastic Surgeon Dr. Lucie Capek to perform their LaserLift. Many of our patients also travel from New York City, Vermont, Massachusetts and beyond to receive her skilled and compassionate care.
LaserLift is a one-time, one-hour procedure that is ideal for patients who are seeking the best possible results with the least amount of downtime. It offers the following advantages:
- Office procedure performed under local anesthesia and oral sedation
- No scars: the treatment is done through 3 tiny punctures in the skin, one under each earlobe and one under the chin
- Minimal downtime: mild swelling and bruising for approximately 7-10 days
- Continuing improvement and tightening for 3-6 months through collagen stimulation
- Lower cost than conventional surgery
The Technology: PrecisionTx, also known as Sidelaze, is an Nd:YAG 1440 nm wavelength laser. The 1440 nm wavelength is highly absorbed by water and creates a photomechanical effect which causes microbubbles at the fiber tip (cavitation effect). This results in bidirectional energy distribution, more focused targeting of tissue and ultimately more predictable results. It is also safer, using Thermaguide™ technology, which provides real-time temperature control.
Am I a good candidate?
Here are some common reasons why you may consider a non-surgical Laser Lift with Precision Tx:
- You notice loose skin and/or fatty tissue around your jawline and under your chin (submental fullness) as you age.
- You have mild jowls.
- You are a younger patient who has submental fullness or fatty tissue in the neck.
- You think you could benefit from a subtle lift in the lower face and neck.
- You are unwilling to undergo a more invasive surgical procedure, such as a facelift or neck lift.
- You are a man who’s noticing fatty tissue around the jawline and neck.
I have had two cosmetic surgeries with Dr. Capek and they turned out wonderfully! I recommend her and trust her completely!
Before Your Procedure
You and Dr. Capek will meet to go over your cosmetic concerns, and she will advise you if this minimally invasive procedure is right for you. During your consultation, you will also find out how to prepare for your procedure and what to expect during your recovery. Dr. Capek answers any questions that you may have so that you feel confident in your decision to have a LaserLift procedure. Being prepared is your first step in ensuring a positive outcome.
As always, you want to be in optimum health when considering elective surgery. Follow a healthy lifestyle, including diet and exercise, and follow your primary care physician’s advice when treating chronic conditions, like high blood pressure. You will also share your detailed medical history with Dr. Capek.
It is also imperative that you don’t smoke or be exposed to any nicotine-containing products for at least 6 weeks prior to and 6 weeks after your LaserLift surgery. Surgery and other forms of nicotine decrease your body’s ability to heal normally and can lead to major, serious complications, such as skin death and severe scarring. Avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs: Advil, Motrin, Aleve) and vitamins/homeopathic regimens. These can increase bruising from your procedure.
During your procedure, Dr. Capek numbs the skin around your jawline with a local anesthetic. She will make tiny incisions under each earlobe and chin where the laser will be inserted. The laser energy emulsifies the fatty tissue under the skin through laser lipolysis. This now liquid fat is gently suctioned out, contouring the jawline and neck. The laser is then reinserted to further heat the undersurface of the skin to produce tightening through collagen stimulation over the next few weeks to months.
The procedure is painless once the local anesthetic is injected and takes effect. At the end of the procedure, a light chin strap is applied over gauze pads.
After Your Procedure
Since this is a minimally invasive procedure, recovery is usually quick and simple. Patients can resume light activities immediately after treatment, including showering and shampoo the next day. The light chin support is worn for 28 to 48 hours and intense exercise is limited for about a week. It is critical to follow all post-operative instructions to ensure optimal recovery.
You may experience slight discomfort in the treatment areas after a LaserLift, but this is usually mild and easily controlled with acetaminophen or other mild pain relievers. You are likely to have mild drainage in the first 24 hours and see bruising, which peaks after two days. Mild-to-moderate swelling is also common and gets better over the first week. The area under your chin may feel lumpy or firm, and we encourage you to massage this for quicker healing. Most patients also see our aesthetician for lymphatic massage of this area in the first couple of weeks after their treatment. This helps you look your best as quickly as possible.
It is possible to see improvement in the contour of your jawline shortly after the procedure, but final tightening results develop over a 3 to 6 month period as new collagen is formed. Although a LaserLift does not duplicate the results of a traditional face or neck lift, it is the “next best thing” and consistently provides noticeable improvement in the appearance of the jawline and neck.
