Latisse®

Schedule

Latisse is an FDA-approved eyelash growth stimulator that can be obtained by prescription at our office. This liquid medication is applied daily to the upper lash line using a small single-use brush. Remove your contacts before applying the serum and be careful to only apply the product along the lash line so that hair does not grow on the surrounding skin. Over 12-16 weeks, patients typically see their eyelashes growing longer, thicker and darker. Although the degree of improvement varies, most patients see a noticeable difference. Treatment needs to be continued to maintain results.

Am I a Good Candidate for Latisse?

Latisse can benefit men and women who desire longer, fuller lashes. Ideal candidates do not have a history of eye infections, inflammation, or conditions like glaucoma and macular edema. Latisse is the same medication that is used to treat glaucoma (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution, 0.03%), so patients with any form of eye disease should check with their ophthalmologist before using it. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should also wait to use Latisse.

What Are the Risks?

Unlike other eyelash serums, Latisse is FDA-approved and has undergone clinical testing to ensure its safety and low risk of complications. Side effects are usually minimal, such as mild irritation or pigmentation in the skin where applied. This should not last longer than a few minutes if it occurs at all. Latisse should not be used IN the eyes since it can permanently darken the color of the iris. It should also not be applied to the lower lash line but the product will gradually transfer to the lower lashes on its own when you blink.
